EPA reports violations at new South Euclid-Lyndhurst Library; former Boneyard restaurant to reopen as 'Play': Best of the Beat

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio — The Environmental Protection Agency has reported nine violations at the new South Euclid-Lyndhurst Library construction site; and the Boneyard restaurant in Mayfield Heights will reopen as a sleek arcade and eatery called Play.
Those were two stories out of Hillcrest this past week. Here's more:
EPA violations at library site: The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has reported several violations related to storm water management on the construction site of the new South Euclid-Lyndhurst branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library.
The company responsible for managing the storm water on the site, Sona Construction, is headed by Raman Patel, the father of Nilesh Patel, who is serving a 3 1/2-year prison sentence for his involvement in the Cuyahoga County corruption scandal.
Project Manager Peter Patel said the company is now in compliance with the EPA and state law. The EPA said an inspector is visiting Tuesday to ensure this.
Boneyard: Owner of the former Boneyard Beer Farm and Mesquite Grill on Mayfield Road is revamping the sports bar into an upscale restaurant and arcade dubbed Play.
Mayfield Heights' Boneyard, one of two in Greater Cleveland, closed in March, and Play is expected to open in late December. The new restaurant will have a "chef-driven menu," according to part-owner Michael Schwartz, a small bowling alley and couches with a more intimate atmosphere — "family-oriented with a date night scene on weekends," he said.
Hillcrest holiday shopping: To mark Small Business Saturday on Nov. 29 — when shoppers are encouraged to patronize locally owned stores — Northeast Ohio Media Group community reporters scoured the suburbs for local presents.
Hillcrest offerings include pottery classes at Spirit of Clay in Mayfield; and Sanctuary on Green in South Euclid, a treasure trove of eclectic merchandise.  Check out those gifts and more at this link.
Holiday events at Legacy Village: Looking for your holiday fix? Legacy Village is serving up plenty of seasonal cheer this year from Black Friday survival kits and a bar hop to live ice carving and photos with Santa. Click here for a full list of events.
Complaints about Mayfield Road barriers at I-271 North ramp: Westbound drivers on Mayfield Road are complaining that a new barrier at the I-271 North ramp (see photo above) is clogging traffic and tripping lights at the SOM Center intersection.
The Ohio Department of Transportation spent $17,400 in October to install a row of posts between the right and left lanes to make a right-turn-only lane as drivers approach the interstate.
Of 19 people surveyed by Northeast Ohio Media Group, 14 said they do not like the barrier, three were indifferent and two said it works well.
